Glad they resigned Emery, but the $/years seem a bit high. Nothing on a 2C, then? |

Emery's deal if at that term and amount, which would be a good sigining, brings them to about $8MM in cap to work with.
So how much should we sign Leddy for again??? |

Emery hasn't resigned as of yet. A 1.5 million cap hit isn't bad. Plus that makes that contract pretty easy to move if Raanta pans out in a year. |

Surprised... but it's a happy surprised. Another move I like by Stan if the cap hit is only 1.5 mil. Gives us depth and an option if Craw walks after next year. Hope his hip will hold up. |

No way. Raanta will need a year in AHL before he is ready to play NA style hockey. |

Really pleased to hear of the possible re-sign and cap number for Emery. Really keeps the depth in net, and also doesn't force-feed Raanta into a role he may not be ready for in a brand new country. Plus, from all reports, Emery is just a great guy in the room. This would be a big win for the 'Hawks.
Like Ryan Jones as a player, too. That'd be a nice lower-line plug-in, and hopefully around a $1.8M price tag. Although he's had a couple season of 15+goals, so maybe I'm undervaluing him. |

That's why I'm surprised about the term, but if they don't over use him I'd imagine he'd be ok.
I don't see his multi-year contract really taking much leverage away from CC. Assuming CC continues to play well next season, I don't see why he wouldn't draw $5M offers from some teams. But, it might be in his and the team's best interests if he stayed, and I'd think that a Bickell contract for CC would be fair to both sides. If they were smart, they'd wait to mid-season to see if he's continuing to play well and, if he is, try to extend him at $4M/4 years. |

Using the Detroit Model, 3 years at a 1.5 cap hit would make crawford expendible after this year when he asks for a lot of money, gives the Hawks a solid starter to replace him in Emery, and allows Raanta to move up to Chicago as the backup. Goalie roulette at minimal cap hit. 1.4 for raanta and 1.5 for emery is a lot nicer than 5 mil in crawford alone.
Get er done Stan! |

Wrong.
This makes 100% complete sense to me.
Bowman's will never pay a goalie big time money.
After this season Crawford is due a huge raise which the Hawks will never give him.
Emery starts the 2014-2015 season as the starting goalie with Raanta (or another goalie) serving as backup till he's ready. In total - if these numbers are correct - come the 2014-2015 season the Hawks will about 2.5-2.7 mil tied up in their two goalies. Again - fits the Bowman model to a "T". |

I'd rather see Ribeiro, but that ain't gonna happen. Krugs might well be a viable option if he hit the weight room and tried to put on 10 pounds of muscle over the summer. |

Last I heard, McPhee has not contacted his agent about an extension.

The Hawks will never give CC more than 3 mil/season--and ultimately why he isn't here after next season and why Emery is getting wrapped up long term. |

Ryan Jones would be sweet for the Hawks.
Good 3rd/4th line guy who can bang some bodies and pop a few here and there. |

Ill ask again here, what is the hawks cap situation with bickell signed and I guess if Emery is locked up as well. What does that leave the hawks with? |

$1.5M per year is a real solid value, not sure what you would be expecting there.
I actually like the multiple years because it gives the team options if Crawford walks. Still have Emery for 2 more seasons in the event Raanta has growing pains for flat out doesn't pan out.
